It is from 1945. On one side it has a coat of arms with the Bald Eagle on top, and on this side says ‘United States of America”. the date 1945, is also found on this side.
Then, on the opposite side, it says “fifty centavos” at the top. At the bottom on this side, it says “FILIPINAS”.
Pictured on this side is a man/woman wearing a robe standing next to a bird bath/water stand filling a ladle.
What would be an estimate on this coins value, and where is it from? The condition is fair to good.
Your coin was minted for the Philippines while a Commonwealth under the United States at the San Francisco mint, there is an S mint mark on it. It was during World War II and the Japanese had taken over or damaged the Manila mint. It is made of .750 silver and has .2411 oz of actual silver weight. In low grades it sells for the silver value, but in grades fine and above has collector value from $6 to $15 or more in high mint state grades. It had a mintage of 18,120,000. If in fair to good it is worth around $4. It is collectible and a collector would buy it if it is in reasonable condition and not damaged. There are a lot of World war II collectors out there.
